Risk behaviors in Nevada are at or near the top of the nation in many areas, yet the State lacks a coordinated plan to address population-based health issues. This grant supports the Nevada Public Health Foundation, Inc., (NPHF) in enhancing collaboration between public health policy making organizations and population-based health service providers to increase the efficacy of public health policy making in the State. The NPHF will collect information about who is making public health policy decisions and their mission, duties, and jurisdiction. The project will: (1) compile the information in manual and Web form; (2) assess the data for issue coverage, resources for implementation and adequacy of communication; and (3) identify Healthy People 2010 objectives important to Nevada. A consolidated plan will then be developed to address population-based health problems throughout the State.
