The Foundation's program, Covering Kids: A National Health Access Initiative for Low-Income, Uninsured Children, was designed to help states and local communities increase the number of eligible children who benefit from health insurance coverage programs. The purpose of this project is a three-year national communications campaign that will build on the initial successes of the Foundation's Covering Kids initiative (CKI) by working to ensure that the CKI meets its goal of maximizing the participation of eligible children in available health programs--Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Moreover, the campaign will work to make enrolling children in health programs as expected and commonplace as seeking vaccinations for young children. The campaign will provide comprehensive infrastructure, leadership, and resources for communications efforts aimed at enrolling children in these programs and changing attitudes about enrolling children in health coverage programs.
