The Foundation's Research Initiative on Health Insurance was designed to provide decision makers with information on the relationship between the labor market and health insurance coverage and how that is changing, and the impact of insurance on workers' productivity and health.Decision-makers need information on the number of uninsured, causes of being uninsured, the impact of insurance on labor productivity and health, and changes in the labor market that affect health insurance. Later this year, Foundation staff members expect to bring forward for approval a funding initiative that would provide that information. The purpose of this project is to plan for this research initiative. The key activities in this planning period will be convening, developing background papers, environmental scans, and meeting with staff from related projects and the Foundation. The key deliverable will be a proposal for the Research Initiative on Health Insurance.
