Public opinion survey of chronic care issues
This project will produce a public opinion survey on issues and experiences related to chronic health conditions and chronic care. The survey will: (1) measure the public's knowledge about key issues related to chronic illness and chronic care; (2) ascertain the public's views on public policy issues related to chronic care; (3) "over sample" individuals with chronic illness and caregivers and question them about their personal experiences with chronic illness and caregiving. The survey results will be used for the following four purposes: (1) to increase awareness among the nation's opinion leaders and journalists of both policy and personal issues related to chronic care; (2) to provide Foundation staff with survey information that will assist them in shaping and evaluating programs and strategies related to both supportive services and clinical care management; (3) to generate valuable content for several proposed Foundation projects; and (4) to gain attention for the work of the Foundation's grantees, which will be described in a forthcoming resource guide on chronic care for reporters. The survey will be released in conjunction with the media guide.
