The Foundation's program, Covering Kids: A National Health Access Initiative for Low-Income, Uninsured Children, was designed to help states and local communities increase the number of eligible children who benefit from health insurance coverage programs.Working through broad state-local coalitions, this project will facilitate state and local efforts to: (1) design and conduct outreach programs that identify and enroll eligible children into Medicaid and other coverage programs; (2) simplify enrollment processes; and (3) coordinate existing coverage programs for low-income children. This project is intended to complement new and ongoing federal, state, and private-sector activities to expand coverage to children and to involve private-sector organizations and traditional child advocacy organizations in an effort to ensure better health outcomes for the children in this state.
