The purpose of this project is to support the Boston Strategy in its continued effort to improve the health and safety of Boston's youth and communities. The Boston Strategy is a collaboration of clergy, schools, business, law enforcement, and youth-serving organizations that formed in the early 1990s to address Boston's high youth homicide rate. This interagency and community partnership has been highly successful in reducing youth homicide and now seeks assistance to focus their work on identifying and intervening with truant youth who research has shown are at increased risk for substance abuse and violence. Specifically, the project will identify truant youth, refer them for case management and treatment, and support follow-up within their communities.
