This grant supports Girls Incorporated, a major national youth development organization, working with Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. (MPR), developing a research design and proposal for evaluating the Girls Inc. program "Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy." During a three-month planning period, the investigators will work closely with MPR staff to develop an evaluation design which will: (1) compare Girls Inc., abstinence - only and comprehensive (abstinence-plus) pregnancy prevention programs; and (2) significantly expand learnings from both ongoing federally funded evaluation of abstinence-only programs and the planned Best Friends evaluation. They will develop a detailed research design, identify and recruit other potential co-funders, and prepare a final proposal.
