This grant supports a unique fencing project for inner city and economically underserved young people in New York City. The project incorporates fencing with educational tutoring, mentoring, conflict resolution and career development in an effort to reach youth at-risk of making unhealthy behavior choices, including substance abuse. If successful, this program will demonstrate an effective intervention strategy to improve health outcomes for an exceptionally underserved and hard to reach population.
