Technical assistance and direction for RWJF's Partners in Caregiving program

The Foundation's Partners in Caregiving: The Dementia Services Program was designed to provide technical assistance and grant support to help adult day centers develop and strengthen innovative center-based, in-home, and other respite programs for people with chronic cognitive disorders--particularly dementia.For nearly ten years, the Foundation has been supporting work in the area of adult day services. Despite growth in the field, there is a need for further widespread dissemination of lessons learned from the Foundation's programs. This supplemental award to the Partners in Caregiving national program office will support a follow-up dissemination campaign which will include the following components: a series of 10 to 15 3-day workshops, a network of teaching centers, development/refinement of training materials, a toll-free hotline, and presentations to selected provider organizations. Staff estimates approximately 1,900 existing centers will be reached, increasing utilization of slots by 25 percent (22,500 more slots). Approximately 200 new centers will be assisted, thus helping to create 7,500 new slots--closing the service capacity gap by 7 percent.
