This grant supports a one-year planning effort for the D.C. Children and Youth Investment Partnership to increase the scale, scope, and effectiveness of non-school-hour support and services to youth in Washington, D.C. This effort was initiated in response to new national data that ranked the District of Columbia as being the worst in eight of ten health, social, educational, and community attachment indicators for children. The Partnership is a broad-based coalition of prominent public and private sector leaders committed to changing outcomes for children and youth. Its goal is to significantly increase the availability of mentoring relationships, community service opportunities, and high-quality health care services for youth.
