Conference on the integration of spirituality and medicine

A number of health professionals believe the integration of spirituality and medicine significantly enhances healing. Some believe that in our culture, there is a need for medical professionals, clergy, and mental health professionals to create a new approach to healing based on contemporary scientific research and ancient spiritual wisdom. Drew University, Grace Counseling Center, and Morristown Memorial Hospital held a two-day medical education conference on October 2-3,199$, at Morristown Memorial Hospital, with partial funding from the Foundation. The conference presented a new paradigm of integrating spirituality and healing, and attendees observed how this broadened approach can be employed in an actual case study of cancer treatment. Herbert Benson, MD, Harvard Medical School, was the keynote speaker.
