This grant supports a study of managed care dispute resolution practices. The study will identify the current practices of managed health care plans for resolving a wide range of enrollee-plan disputes. The researchers will recommend and develop workable options for improving the dispute resolution process. The project will consist of a telephone survey of key informants from a sample of health plans and a set of focus groups to explore policy options. The effort has support from the managed care industry. The Commission on Legal Problems of the Elderly of the American Bar Association will subcontract with the Economic and Social Research Institute for this project.
