This grant provides partial support to evaluate La Bodega de la Familia, a demonstration project operating on Manhattan's Lower East Side that seeks to address the needs of families affected by substance abuse. The program uses a family case-management approach to improve the health and well being of all family members, while also addressing the treatment needs of the criminally involved, substance-abusing member. The study will assess La Bodega's effectiveness in reducing rates of child delinquency and interpersonal violence, reducing substance use, reducing re-arrest rates, and increasing family cohesion.
