This project will institute a Prevention Leadership Network (PLN) to reduce substance abuse (ATOD) problems in New Hampshire. A three-part leadership development model incorporating key components from the Marin Institute and Join Together National Fellows Program Leadership Institute training programs will be implemented over four years. The four major objectives of the project are to: (1) identify, recruit, train, and support four hundred state decision makers who will actively advocate for effective ATOD policies and program services; (2) stimulate and nurture the development of six regional prevention networks that will organize at least ten community coalitions; (3) increase the allocation of state resources dedicated to ATOD prevention and treatment programs; and (4) increase public awareness of ATOD issues and build support to promote public policies that reduce the harm caused by ATOD.
