Development of a coordinated benefits model of health care for work-related and non-work-related conditions

The Foundation's Workers' Compensation Health Initiative is a program of demonstration and evaluation projects aimed at containing costs and improving the quality of care provided to injured workers.Under this initiative, this project will evaluate the Coordinated Health Care and Disability Management (CHCDM). CHCDM is a model designed to improve patient functional activity and reduce overall societal health care and disability costs through integration of the best components of workers' compensation and general health care. The objective of the evaluation is to identify if CHCDM improves patient functional activity at an acceptable cost, preserves or improves the quality of medical care, and maintains or improves patient, employer, and provider satisfaction.
