The Foundation's Program, Bridging the Gap: Research Informing Practice and Policy for Healthy Youth Behavior, was designed to improve understanding of school, community, state and national policies and environmental factors affecting youth diet, physical activity, obesity, and tobacco, alcohol and drug use, and to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to prevent youth obesity and tobacco use.This contract provides support for Denis J. Prager, Ph.D., to work as a consultant to the Foundation's Surveillance of Youth Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Use Initiative. Under this agreement, Dr. Prager will serve as chair of the Coordinating Committee established to facilitate collaboration among the diverse study centers involved in the Initiative. Dr. Prager will: convene committee meetings; create and oversee the work of subcommittees working on specific technical and policy issues; visit individual projects to prevent/resolve problems; and provide advice on developing productive teams and strategies to further the work of the Initiative.
