The Foundation's program, Urban Health Initiative: Working to Ensure the Health and Safety of Children, was designed to work closely with five cities for a period of up to ten years in an effort to improve the health and safety of their young people. This project will focus on 9- to 16-year-olds and their families in five North Philadelphia neighborhoods. Its major strategy is to change the City of Philadelphia's internal service delivery and funding systems to better meet the expectations of the target group by creating, training, and staffing a number of neighborhood coordinating teams to identify gaps in services and opportunities for change, and to serve as the bridge between the community and the Mayor's Human Services Cabinet.
