The Foundation's program, New Jersey Health Initiatives, was designed to support projects in New Jersey that develop new approaches to resolving the state's health care needs, focusing on the Foundation's goal areas. This is a project to provide aftercare support for adolescents and teens who are in recovery from serious substance abuse problems. Two local substance abuse prevention organizations and two school systems will collaborate to organize twice-weekly support groups with teen leaders. Each group will follow a structured format designed to promote recovery and prevent relapse among these young people, and will receive training by specialists in family therapy, adolescent addiction, and team-building skills. Special effort will be made to encourage family involvement.
