The Foundation's Bridging the Gap: Research Informing Practice for Healthy Youth Behavior Program was designed to improve the understanding of the role of policy and environmental factors in both youth alcohol, illicit drug, and tobacco use, as well as diet and physical activity to evaluate their effectiveness in reducing substance use and obesity among youth. This grant provides continued support for the establishment of the State-Community Coordinating Center for the Youth Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Surveillance Initiative. The Coordinating Center will oversee and assist in the implementation of activities designed to strengthen surveillance of important policy, program, and social influences at the state and local levels.
