Opening Doors: A Program to Reduce Sociocultural Barriers to Health Care is a joint program with the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation to support demonstration and research projects that have the potential for improving access to maternal, child, and reproductive health services by reducing sociocultural barriers to care.The purpose of this project is to enhance and strengthen its organizational structure by staffing, space and information needs. The number of homeless families served by the Homeless Prenatal Program has quadrupled in the last five years and is expected to climb steeply in the next year due to recent federal welfare cuts.
