The Foundation's Home Care Research Initiative was designed for researchers and policy analysts to explore key issues in the area of home and community-based care for the chronically ill.This grant provides support for a study to evaluate the effects of the Michigan Managed Long-Term Care Initiative, a care system designed to provide comprehensive long-term care services for the enrolled population. The investigators will examine the effect of the Initiative on client placement decision and on client outcomes, focusing on 1,000 intake clients to 20 community agencies in each of two "waves," one prior to and one following implementation of the Initiative. The project will also provide a "turnkey system" of documentation, instruments, protocols, and software that can be used by other states.
