Research to develop policy models aimed at assuring that children grow up in nurturing homes

It is clear that we have in America a serious problem with abused and neglected children. Many in this field agree that we need, somehow, to do a better job of either promptly helping the dysfunctional family to cope so as to be able to keep its children or else promptly arranging for a permanent alternative family for those children. The purpose of this project is to address issues of child abuse and neglect, to analyze family preservation and substitute care programs, and to develop policy alternatives better designed to ensure children the chance all deserve to grow up in a nurturing family either with biologic or adoptive parents.
