Study of the organizational structures of academic health centers

This grant provides funding to enable the Association of Academic Health Centers to characterize academic health centers according to their organizational structure. The project staff hypothesize that certain characteristics tend to define the functioning of institutions and that some structures permit more flexibility and change than others. This study will articulate organizational models that might most powerfully place the academic health center in the best position not only to survive but also to prosper as the goals of academic health centers evolve.
