The Foundation's program, Self-Determination for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (SDPDD), was designed to help states implement a more cost effective system while simultaneously allowing families and persons with disabilities more choice in determining the services they receive.This grant provides support for technical assistance and direction for the Foundation's SDPDD, under the direction of Donald Shumway and Thomas Nerney. The National Program Office (NPO) will provide technical assistance to state officials and local pilot sites. The NPO also will prepare technical assistance materials which will include: manuals on creative person-centered planning; case studies of successful efforts to reintegrate the disabled in the community; best practices in case management; setting up a financial accounting system; and developing quality assurance criteria.
