This grant provides continued support for the ground-breaking work that Join Together has done to expand the capacity of communities to reduce the harm caused by substance abuse. As the university-based arm of the Community Initiatives strategy, the activities will reinforce the set of roles Join Together has come to play nationally as an analytic, tool development, and monitoring resource, and will test the viability of additional new approaches to build the capacity of community efforts. Join Together provides technical assistance to communities across the country that seek to reduce the use of illegal drugs and alcohol and the harm caused by these substances. They work at the national level to move policy discussions concerning community-based substance abuse prevention and treatment to a higher level.
