Resource development for a national public education effort to reduce tobacco use by youth

The Foundation's program, National Center for Tobacco-Free Kids, was designed to reduce youth tobacco use through the establishment of a center that develops a national strategy, serves as a media center, provides technical assistance, and broadens organizational support to reduce youth tobacco use.Through this program contract, Development Communications Associates (DCA) will assist the Foundation to secure matching funds to help initiate a national public education effort to prevent another generation of children from becoming addicted to tobacco. The national public education effort will include the development of a national tobacco strategies center/media resource center and a national media campaign to denormalize tobacco use by youth. Besides helping to secure matching funds, DCA will also plan and design a long-term, fund-raising strategy to maintain the effort. In addition, the project will enable the Foundation to assist the Carter Center, as the lead agency of this effort, to design a program to keep children from using tobacco.
