Mental health program for indigent elderly

The Foundation's program, New Jersey Health Initiatives, was designed to support projects in New Jersey that develop new approaches to resolving the state's health care needs, focusing on the Foundation's goal areas.Underutilization of existing mental health resources by elderly inner-city residents will be the focus of this grant project. A multidisciplinary team will provide home-based services to indigent residents of New Brunswick who are experiencing mental health problems such as substance abuse, depression, psychosis, anxiety, and dementia. Referrals from local health and social service agencies will be contacted and assessed, with an active case load of 150 clients expected by the end of two years.
