Analysis of cities with differing TB therapy completion rates

The purpose of this project is to analyze and compare six to eight cities with differing TB therapy completion rates in order to determine what factors account for successes and failures. Specifically, this grant enables the grantee to: (1) select cities with high incidence rates of TB and low completion rates of TB therapy completion; (2) use site visit interviews and available data, characterize the factors associated with program failures, including social and client features; and (3) prepare a report that will be available to public health officials in selected sites and TB control programs at the local, state and federal levels. If successful, these analyses will document the programmatic and policy changes that might be undertaken to enable TB control programs to reach the national goal of 95 percent completion of therapy within 12 months of treatment onset.
