The Foundation's Ladders in Nursing Careers Program was designed to replicate Project L.I.N.C. which demonstrated an effective strategy to help interested and qualified hospital employees advance into LPN and RN positions at the nursing school of their choice. This grant supports the planning phase for the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) to replicate Project L.I.N.C. statewide through affiliate organizations. IHA and these organizations will, with the assistance of a Steering Committee, focus on developing an implementation proposal. Project staff plans to conduct meetings with organizations and organize presentations to hospital CEOs to broaden awareness and increase visibility of the program throughout the State. Replication of the Project in Iowa will differ somewhat from New York in that: (1) it will have a more rural focus; (2) most hospitals are small; and (3) the population is made up of less minorities and more elderly.
