All Kids Count

The Foundation's program, All Kids Count: Establishing Immunization Monitoring and Follow-up Systems, was designed to support the development and implementation of monitoring and follow-up systems to improve and sustain access to immunizations for preschool children.This is one of 23 one-year planning grants under the All Kids Count program. The main goal of the program is to establish immunization monitoring and follow-up systems in an effort to increase immunization rates among preschool children and reduce the rate of illness, disability, and death from vaccine preventable diseases. Under this planning grant, the New York City (NYC) and New York State Department of Health and Medical and Health Research Association of NYC will combine efforts to develop a plan which will be used to establish an immunization registry. The major goals of the project are to: (1) develop an overall plan to integrate the immunization registry within the City and State plans; (2) define the role of the immunization registry in the overall strategy to improve immunization levels; (3) develop a technical plan to manage the storage and retrieval of data; (4) develop an implementation plan; and (5) begin pilot testing. The grantee plans to first develop the registry in NYC and to eventually extend it statewide. Approximately 2 million children are targeted for registration citywide.
