The American Public Health Association (APHA) is conducting a Public Health Awareness campaign which involves dissemination of the Public Health Report Card. This report rates each state on a series of health indicators based on a statistical analysis of data in five categories; community profile, public health and welfare, environment, medical care and individual behavior together with a narrative discussing the significance of each. It is hoped that this report card aimed primarily at state and local levels will promote a broader health agenda. Foundation funds will be used for dissemination of the report with initial costs borne by the Carnegie Corporation.
