National roundtable on effective services for children

The purpose of this project is to enable the National Academy of Sciences to convene an ongoing forum to provide public and private policymakers with information about the cross-system reform efforts. Background papers analyzing the underlying common themes of innovative cross-system initiatives will be developed for each of the three forums. The conceptual themes to be used for the three forums are: (1) governance--which will help clarity the role that governance/project leadership plays in promoting or creating barriers to these system reform efforts; (2) financing--which will profile the innovative strategies that are being used in these system reforms efforts as well as the strengths and weaknesses of concepts; and (3) evaluation--which will promote a dialogue between qualitative and quantitative evaluators of children and family systems reform efforts. In addition, summary reports, which will include a series of recommendations for public and private policymakers for further action, will be developed after the three forums are held. The Pew Charitable Trusts, Annie E. Casey, Ford, and W.T. Grant foundations are also supporting this project.
