General support for the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse

This grant provides core support to establish and sustain the Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University through its first three years of operation. The mission of CASA will be to provide leadership in helping the nation address the manifold problems of addiction and substance abuse, to raise the quality and visibility of research and public dialogue about these problems, and to attract the commitment of resources essential to address them effectively. CASA will seek to accomplish its mission though a variety of interdisciplinary activities in education, research, program evaluation, policy analysis, knowledge dissemination, and the media.
