The Foundation's program, Improving the Quality of Hospital Care, was designed to help individual hospitals develop the means to identify and address problems in the quality of patient care. This grant supports efforts to improve patient care in a consortium of nine public hospitals in California, by demonstrating that a resource center can increase hospitals' capacities to identify and solve quality of care problems. The principal objectives are: (1) the resource center will provide technical assistance, educational programs, a clearinghouse for information, and a forum for problem solving; and (2) the member hospitals will improve their systems for quality management and will show measurable improvements in patient care.
