The Foundation's initiative, Improving Child Health Services: Removing Categorical Barriers to Care, was designed to determine the feasibility of stimulating structural changes in how health services for children are financed and delivered. The Community Foundation of Greater Flint working with the Mott's Children Health Center, building on a Children and Families '89 report card, (recently updated) will develop a single comprehensive report on child health and well being for the Child Health Initiative. They also plan to develop flexible financing mechanisms ($200,000 in year 1) in service-related resources. The target population for this effort is children ages 0-12 living in Holmes Action Zone in Flint with the anticipation of extension to Genesee County school district (located outside of Flint) in year 3 for an estimated total of 2,000 children.
