This grant provides start-up support for the implementation of a centralized resource to strengthen and improve efforts of communities engaged in substance abuse initiatives throughout the U.S. resulting from the focus of the Foundation's Fighting Back Program and similar federal programs. The project will develop a national database of the initiatives and establish a computerized information network, conduct national training seminars for a limited number of coalition leaders, provide technical assistance through on-site visitation, convene policy forums, and establish a communications effort (publications, media presentations, etc.). This project will test whether the Foundation can amplify the impact of the Fighting Back Program by providing comprehensive assistance to all communities addressing the same problem.
