The Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program was designed to augment clinical training by providing new skills and perspectives necessary to achieving leadership positions both within and outside the walls of academia in the 21st century.The Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program allows young physicians from all clinical specialties to undertake 2 years of graduate-level study and research in a number of nonbiological disciplines which bear on medicine and health affairs. These include such fields as epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, management sciences and anthropology. The University of Washington is 1 of 7 institutions participating in the Program. Twenty Foundation-funded Scholars and 6 VA-funded Fellows are appointed annually. Each program is assigned from 2 to 5 Foundation Scholars annually (UCSF/Stanford is a joint program) and 1 VA Fellow. This grant provides support for the 4 Foundation Clinical Scholars in the 1991-93 cohort, including stipends and related expenses.
