The Foundation's School-Based Adolescent Health Care Program was designed to strengthen the capacity of communities and families to meet the multiple health and health-related needs of adolescents by utilizing local public secondary schools as a principal locus of care. This grant supports continued technical assistance and direction for the program and is handled by Julia Graham Lear, Ph.D., of Children's Medical Center, together with Philip J. Porter, M.D., of Harvard. The program is proceeding well, with all of the clinics being utilized by the students. In addition to providing needed medical services, the clinics, with the assistance of Dr. Lear and Dr. Porter, are developing a funding base for their programs after RWJF support ends.
