The Foundation's program, Improving the Quality of Hospital Care, was designed to help individual hospitals develop the means to identify and address problems in the quality of patient care.This grant supports provision of technical assistance to the program, Improving the Quality of Hospital Care. Under this project, the senior technical consultants will: (1) assist Foundation staff in monitoring the needs of program sites for specific technical assistance; (2) assign and coordinate consultants for individual sites as needed; (3) provide a clearinghouse/information service for program sites on hospital quality improvement and assurance; (4) facilitate communication among program sites and coordinate program meetings; (5) publish a newsletter on issues related to hospital quality; and (6) assist Foundation staff in formulating and potentially implementing the Phase II design. The expected outcome will be the provision of expert technical assistance which will bolster the program sites' success in establishing viable consortia and in addressing problems in quality of care.
