Improving Service Systems for People with Disabilities

The Foundation's program, Improving Service Systems for People with Disabilities, was designed to strengthen the capacity of community-based agencies run by and for people with physical disabilities to create comprehensive systems of services for this population.Under this grant, Resources for Independent Living will undertake the planning necessary to: (1) create a data base of core agencies and professionals providing independent living, employment, and other disability related services; (2) organize a network and conference for leaders from the Employment and Disability agency system in order to address the need for improved case management, coordination and needed local reforms; (3) publish a resource guide and directory to Employment and Disability known as "E. Dee"; and (4) determine strategies to become more financially self-sufficient, including E. Dee sales and consultancy to local businesses. The Year I products will include a market or needs assessment and an implementation plan.
