Facility repairs and renovations

Although the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation became a national philanthropy in 1972 and has operated on a national scale since then, it also has continued funding a limited number of local institutions and projects in the New Brunswick area and throughout New Jersey. It does so in part to honor the legacy of its founder, and in part to recognize the special responsibilities to the communities and the state in which it is located. This grant provides partial support for needed repairs and renovations to the Cenacle Retreat House. When General Johnson changed his residence, he donated the building and grounds to the Sisters of the Highland Park Cenacle for use as a site for their retreat programs. During his lifetime, General Johnson personally covered the costs of maintaining the facility. Since his death, maintenance of the facility has been inadequate. Funds will be used for: (1) repaving of roads and driveway; (2) roof repairs and gutter replacement; and (3) painting and refurbishing the interior structure.
