Evaluation of the Supportive Services in Senior Housing Program - Phase II

The Foundation's Supportive Services Program in Senior Housing was designed to assist in developing efficient and affordable supportive services models throughout the country.This grant supports the implementation of the evaluation of the Supportive Services Program in Senior Housing. Evaluators at the Georgetown Center for Health Policy Studies have worked under a 19-month planning grant to document project development, develop a management information system, and design a full evaluation plan. The evaluation will describe and analyze: (1) the organization of services by housing development and state housing finance authorities; (2) the financing strategies and new funding devoted to supportive services; (3) service delivery and utilization; and (4) the impact of services on tenants, owners, and managers in senior housing. Data will be collected through site visit interviews and the program's MIS, which will be processed by the evaluators and fed back to the program sites. This project is expected to produce a timely report on the feasibility and viability of supportive services provision in senior housing developments, which will result in valuable lessons for others wishing to develop these services for the elderly.
