This initiative, Strengthening Hospital Nursing: A Program to Improve Patient Care, jointly funded with Pew Charitable Trusts, was designed to encourage hospitals to undertake institution-wide restructuring in order to provide better patient care by improving nursing services.This grant supports technical assistance and direction for the Strengthening Hospital Nursing program. Two-thirds of the budget will be funded by the Foundation and the remaining one-third by the Pew Charitable Trusts. During the budget year, the applications for implementation funding from the current 80 grantees will be reviewed. Final selection of the up to 20 implementation grants in Phase II of the program will be made. A meeting of the grantee hospitals will be held following the selection.
