This grant provides funds for the final preparation of a manuscript of a Foundation-supported study begun in 1973. This study represents an unusual in-depth look at the nature of office-based ambulatory pediatric care. It examined several factors, including patient waiting time, family satisfaction with care, and attention to developmental issues. Some of the material and analyses of the study were published by Dr. Duff and colleagues in the early 1980's. Dr. Duff then completed a first draft of a book. However, at about the time that this first draft was completed, Dr. Duff had a very serious stroke and has been considerably handicapped since. Dr. Charles D. Cook, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester, persuaded Dr. Duff, an old friend and colleague, to allow him to edit the manuscript and find a publisher. This has now been completed and the manuscript has been accepted for publication by the Health Administration Press.
