The Foundation's program, On Lok Approach to Care for the Elderly, was developed as an outgrowth of earlier grants to On Lok Senior Health Services to develop and test the feasibility of replicating its model program for long-term care for the elderly (PACE-Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly.)On Lok Senior Health Services established a system of care that enables high-risk, frail and dependent elderly people to remain in their own dwellings instead of being institutionalized. Six replication sites have now been funded. Technical assistance by On Lok has been underway for three years. Because the replication sites were started at different times, the need for technical assistance will continue beyond the four years originally envisioned. However, the annual level of further support required for this purpose will decline as the sites acquire the capacity to function on their own.
