This project will provide information on women physicians who entered the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, between 1964 and 1967 and who are now at the peak of their careers. Interviews will be obtained with up 53 women physicians who are part of a longitudinal study launched in 1964-67 when they were medical students. A second set of data was collected about 12 years later by Harrison Gough, Ph.D., with support from the Foundation. This third data collection effort will focus on what these women physicians are doing in their professional and private lives to determine how they have fared in such areas as career satisfaction, work productivity, and marital outcomes.
