The Foundation's AIDS Health Services Program was designed for the establishment of specialized comprehensive health and supportive services for victims of AIDS and AIDS-related disorders.This program contract will allow Burness Communications to continue as communications consultant to the AIDS Health Services Program for the two-fold purpose of: (1) helping each project gain visibility in their local community in order to obtain long-term financing via media (TV, radio, print) events on final site visits by the national program director with mayors of the respective project communities, and (2) to disseminate the AHSP findings at local and national levels via ghosted op-eds, continuation of the AIDSline newsletter, and RWJF program and communications efforts; by placing the national program director before national AIDS groups such as U.S. Conference of Mayors, National Governors Conference, Council on Foundations, AHA, National Leadership Coalition on AIDS; and by providing technical assistance to grantees at the annual meeting. This renewal funding will continue to meet intramural and extramural communications needs. The communications functions performed by Burness Communications will be overseen by RWJF's vice president for communications.
