This provides second-phase funding to develop and implement an accreditation program for HMOs. Phase I funding provided for testing of interest among representatives from HMOs, payors, and industry to determine the feasibility and desirability of an accreditation program. The primary activity in Phase II will be to implement an accreditation program. In order to achieve this, funds will be used to: (1) refine quality review standards including the testing of new tools and techniques; (2) develop a training program for accreditation reviewers; and (3) implement a marketing strategy. It is projected that a minimum of 125 site reviews will be performed during the three years.
