The Foundation's Clinical Nurse Scholars Program supports two-year, post-doctoral fellowships to prepare a cadre of nurse faculty for leadership in the care of hospital patients with serious illness and injuries.This project provides technical assistance and direction of the Clinical Nurse Scholars Program by the Program Director, Dr. Rheba deTornyay, which includes site visits to the three training sites (UCSF, University of Pennsylvania and University of Rochester); arrangements and participation in the annual meeting; and overall liaison for former Scholars, present Scholars and training sites. Nine Scholars are appointed annually for participation in the Program at the three training sites. The seventh (last) class has been appointed to begin their fellowship experience in 1989, bringing the total for the program to 62 at completion in 1991.
