The Foundation's School-Based Adolescent Health Care Program was designed to strengthen the capacity of communities and families to meet the multiple health and health-related needs of adolescents by utilizing local public secondary schools as a principal locus of care.This is a 2nd-phase grant awarded under the 19-site national program, to provide comprehensive health services to the 1,153 adolescents at Istrouma H.S. and 656 adolescents at Westdale Middle School. The clinic is staffed by part-time LSU faculty/residents, part-time LSU faculty psychology consultants, full-time NP, RN, and social worker. Medical services and health education will be performed on-site with ob/gyn prenatals, complicated VD problems, etc., referred to the backup hospital, Earl K. Long Hospital.
